Pruning

I specialize in pruning small trees and shrubs throughout the season. Whether you need help with a specific plant or just want to keep your garden looking its best, I'm here to help.

  • Winter pruning (in February and March) is for improving the structure of the plants.

  • Late spring pruning for those early flowering shrubs like Forsythia, azalea, rhododendrons and others (right after they are done flowering).

  • Summer pruning is for controlling waterspouts and increase fruit production on fruiting trees (around July and August depending on your area).

Pruning fees are $65 per hour. For any disposal, I can pile it up for you get rid of at your discretion or I can take it away for a $10 per bag fee (At the moment I'm limited on how much).

Common Questions

-What types of plants do you prune? I prune shrubs and small trees. Usually, the trees are various fruit trees. -Do you prune big trees like 40+ foot maples? No, I'm not an arborist and have no desire to climb up big trees. -How long does it take to prune your trees and shrubs? I can only give my best guess. Once I get in there and start working on them it can go faster or take longer than I thought. For example, large 15 foot apple trees can take a couple hours. small trees that usually take around 1 hour. Also it depends on how well maintained they are. If the tree or shrub has never been trimmed by a professional then its very likely they need a lot of work. -When do you prune the plants? Ideally February and March are the best for the winter pruning. Its totally acceptable to prune in April. Some plants shouldn't be pruned until they are done flowering in spring and I also do a summer pruning for fruiting trees in July or August.
